Galleries is a virtual experience designed to break down the physical and economic barriers of the art world. This immersive app transports users into meticulously recreated digital versions of some of the world’s most iconic galleries from the comfort of their own device.
Built for accessibility and discovery, Galleries allows users to explore curated exhibits, wander through world class collections, and connect with art on their own terms, anytime, anywhere. The Problem
Access to art is often limited by geography, time, and cost. Many people have busy schedules, travel constraints, or lack of local options miss out on the opportunity to experience world class art in person.
The Goal
Design a digital platform that brings the gallery experience to users wherever they are. The app should make exploring art intuitive, immersive, and accessible anytime, from any device.
From Assumptions to Insights
Throughout the project, we deepened our understanding of user needs through a combination of research, interviews, and usability testing. Our primary user group individuals with an interest in art validated many of our initial assumptions about art enthusiasts, while also revealing new insights and unexpected challenges. These findings highlighted the importance of accessibility, intuitive navigation, and personalization in creating a meaningful digital art experience.
Impact
Galleries has opened up new pathways for users to engage with art by removing traditional barriers like location, cost, and time. The app has been well received for its intuitive design and ability to make world-class art accessible from anywhere, helping users feel more connected to culture and creativity on their own terms.
Key Takeaway
This project strengthened my ability to manage and document a design process from concept to launch. I gained hands on experience in planning user-centered solutions, collaborating across disciplines, and translating insights into clear, actionable design decisions. Most importantly, I learned how thoughtful design can bridge the gap between people and experiences they may not have access to otherwise
